Are you streaming your favorite series and the connection drops? Or video calling with your family? It’s annoying if your mobile data doesn’t work. But you can solve it quickly. I’ll tell you 7 solutions to restore the connection. This way you can quickly pick up where you left off.
Mobile data not working: solve it with these 7 solutions
There are several reasons why you do not have a 4G connection and your mobile data is not working. Or 5G doesn’t work. But there are also solutions. I put the most common solution at the top. And so you can go down the list.
Solution 1: Do you have coverage?
The first solution is obvious, but it is important. You have reach almost everywhere. However, it can sometimes happen that your connection drops because you have no range.
For example, because you are in a house with thick walls. The range is also not there in a tunnel or with a boat on the water.
Solution 2: Turn your airplane mode on and off
It may happen that you telephone doesn’t work quite well. No connection will then be made to the network. You can solve it by turning on airplane mode.
And then turn it off again. This disconnects the connection between your phone and your provider. After about twenty seconds, turn off airplane mode again. Your phone will connect again. And that solves the problem of mobile data not often working.
Solution 3: Restart your phone
4G not working after airplane mode solution? Or 5G doesn’t work on your iPhone? You can restart your phone. This will reset your settings. Your SIM card will also reconnect to the network.
Solution 4: 5G or 4G not working? Make sure your mobile data is turned on
It may happen that you have accidentally turned off the mobile internet. On your iPhone and Samsung or other Android phone, you can turn it back on in no time.
Turn on mobile data on iPhone:
- Open your Settings app.
- Choose a Mobile network.
- Set the Mobile data slider to green to reconnect to the internet.
Turn on mobile data on an Android phone
- Open the settings menu.
- Choose Connections.
- Press Mobile networks.
- Go to Network mode SIM1 (or 2 if you use a dual SIM).
- Press 5G/4G/3G/2G (automatically connect) and you turn on the mobile internet again.
Solution 5: You are connected to the wrong WiFi network
Is the internet on your phone not working? Maybe you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. This can be done on the train, for example.
But then you have to agree to the terms and conditions. As long as you do not agree to this, you will not have a connection.
You can solve this in two ways. If you agree to the terms and conditions, you will be connected via WiFi. Would you rather not do that? Turn off WiFi and you are connected to 4G or 5G again.
Solution 6: Disable MB Pause
Are you abroad within the EU and have you used up your bundle? I have the MB Pause turned on for you by default.
This protects you against costs for mobile internet outside your bundle. Do you still want to use the internet outside your bundle?
In the Am app and I am you can turn MB Pause on or off. You can also purchase a one-off MB Extra or change your bundle to a higher internet bundle.
Solution 7: You have outstanding invoices
You pay invoices automatically. Does this fail because you don’t have enough money in your account? And have you still not paid 15 days after the reminder email?
Then your number will be disconnected. You will then no longer be able to use the internet. You can also no longer call or text.
Turn off WiFi calling
Do you have any problems with your data, but do you have problems with calling via WiFi? You can turn off WiFi calling. This is useful if your WiFi connection is not very stable and you keep dropping out.
