Samsung A33 vs A53 in the spotlight

It is difficult to choose when you have decided to go for a new smartphone. Especially when you want to choose between Samsung’s A-toppers, such as the Samsung A33 vs A53.

Then it’s nice to know where you stand; what are the biggest differences? And how do the phones resemble each other like two drops of water? We’re going to investigate.

Samsung Galaxy A33 vs A53

The Samsung Galaxy A33 and the Galaxy A53 made quite a few tongues before their launch. Because would Samsung really deliver two A models in one fell swoop?

Yes! In the shop window around March 2022, two brand new A models suddenly appeared. Then you have a direct answer to the question: how old are the Samsung Galaxy A33 and A53?

At first glance, the two seem to differ little, but when you dive deeper into the specs you see small snippets of difference.

And those small differences can only just – yes – make the difference for you. And that is also very logical, but then you have to know what they are.

A33 vs A53  specifications

Because you’re probably wondering: is the Samsung A53 a good phone? And the same goes for the A33.

A33 vs A53: the main differences

Before you can finally make that decision whether you go for the Samsung Galaxy A33 or the Samsung Galaxy A53.

We will first serve you the most important specifications and differences. This way you can figure out which of the two mid-range Galaxy’s can slip into your pocket.

Design Samsung A33 vs A53

At first you will not see any major differences on the outside of the two devices. But when you look a little closer you can see them!

For example, the A53 has a selfie camera that is incorporated in the screen. With the A33, the selfie camera is still incorporated in the notch (the notch at the top of the screen).

Without a notch, you benefit from a slightly larger screen with the A53 than with the Samsung A33; this saves 0.1 inch. This difference is therefore negligible and it just depends on what you like better.

The camera island on the back is exactly the same on both phones. And both A-toppers are equipped with extra sturdy glass (Corning Gorilla Glass 5).

Looking at the colors, you can shop both devices in black, light blue and peach. So you can indulge yourself with one of the color options.

Display Samsung A33 vs A53

Apart from its appetizing looks, a good screen certainly counts in your deliberations. We have good news in that respect: you don’t actually have to make that choice.

Because both devices have an Amoled Full HD + screen. Despite exactly the same type of display, the Samsung A33 does have a slightly smaller screen than the A53: 6.4 inches compared to 6.5 inches.

Samsung A33 vs A53 Compare

The A33 has a 90Hz refresh rate and the A53 has a 120Hz refresh rate. That means that the screen of the A53 looks slightly smoother.

Cameras Samsung A33 vs A53

And then the cameras of the Galaxy A33 and A53. Because making beautiful memories with your phone’s camera is actually a requirement.

Fortunately, we have good news! Because both A models have a nice quartet of cameras. For example, the Samsung Galaxy A33 has a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The selfie camera has 23 megapixels, so you can be sure that you will get a razor-sharp picture.

The A53 does a bit better than its brother. Because the Galaxy A53 is equipped with a 64-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro camera and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

With its fine 32 megapixel selfie camera, nothing stands in the way of taking a good selfie, except maybe a bad hair day. The cameras side by side:

  • The Samsung A33: 48, 8, 5 and 2 megapixels with a 23 megapixel selfie camera
  • The Samsung A53: 64.12.5.5 megapixels with a 32 megapixel selfie camera

Processor Samsung A33 vs A53

Samsung has been making its own processors for a number of years, and these home-made chips have also been used for the A33 and A53.

Both models have the extremely strong Exynos-1280 processor under the hood. This powerhouse is capable of letting you game, stream, scroll and app without lag.

You can move from your game to your YouTube video in one smooth motion. That Exynos pulls it all fine! As far as the processor is concerned, there is no difference between the two.

Battery Samsung A33 vs A53

Both the A33 and A53 have a 5000 mAh battery. That may not say much on paper. But in use, both A models are fitter than fit. This way you can stream, app, scroll, shop and socialize digitally.

That large battery lasts an average of two days without charging. Thanks to the fine software, both the A33 and the A53 can adapt to your use; when you use it less, it goes into a low-power mode.

And then fast charging ? You can do that on the Galaxy A33 and A53 too. With the 25 watt charger you have about 50% battery in 30 minutes. A small downside perhaps: wireless charging is unfortunately not possible for both of them.

Price Samsung A33 vs A53

We didn’t keep you in suspense throughout this blog, only to reveal that the two have hefty price tags. The Samsung Galaxy A line is known for being mid-range smartphones with a ditto price tag.

Shop the A33 or the A53 in combination with a subscription! The A53 is currently temporarily on offer , so you benefit from a competitive purchase price.

But if you want a slightly cheaper phone anyway, then the A33 remains the cheapest of the two at € 288. The A53 remains slightly more expensive, because it also has a little more to offer.

Conclusion: do you go for Samsung A33 vs A53?

It’s time to take stock! We’ve compared the main parts of both phones above. And of course a conclusion follows from that and it is quite clear and short.

Because the Galaxy A53 is the phone with slightly better cameras and a slightly higher refresh rate (120Hz versus 90Hz). And those are actually the main differences between the two devices.
