Do you have a nice video on your phone? Or do you like to watch your favorite series and films via the apps on your phone? By streaming your phone to the TV, you can watch on a large screen. In this blog, I explain how you can do that.
Why stream from your phone to the TV?
Connecting your phone to the TV can be useful for several reasons. For example, do you have files on your phone that you would like to see (or show) on a large screen?
Then streaming to your television is ideal. Even if you have certain apps on your phone, such as Netflix, Videoland, or the NPO app, it is nice to be able to stream from your phone to the TV.

Streaming by screen mirroring
Do you want to connect your screen to the TV right away? This can be done by screen mirroring.
This literally means that you mirror your phone on your television. To do this, click on the ‘share screen’ icon and select the correct television. Note: you do need a smart TV for this.
Stream via a Google Chromecast
If you have a Google Chromecast, you can easily connect your phone to the TV with both your Android phone and your iPhone. This is how:
- Make sure your phone and your Chromecast are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Google Home app on your phone.
- Click on the device you want to cast the screen to.
- Click on ‘Cast my screen’.
- Click on “Share screen”.
- Your phone is now paired with the Chromecast.
Stream through Apple TV
Do you have an iPhone? Then Apple TV is ideal for streaming. Have you purchased Apple TV and connected it to your television? Then follow these steps:
- Open the control panel by swiping down from the top right of your screen.
- Click on the AirPlay icon.
- Choose Apple TV.
- Your phone is now linked to Apple TV.
Stream via an HDMI cable
Do you prefer to connect your phone with a cable, instead of wirelessly? Or do you not have WiFi at home? Then you can connect your phone to an HDMI cable.
First check which port your mobile has. You can then connect your phone to your television with an HDMI cable. The connection is made immediately, so you can play a video right away.
